Google Streetview Came to Fauquier
Can you believe the fine folks at Google drove through my hometown of Fauquier? You know that small little Kootenay town of 200 residence? Check it out:

Vancouver Lightning
So I heard through the grapevine (Facebook) that on Saturday Vancouver had the most amazing mix of sunset, lightning, and fireworks all in one. You can view a bunch of really great photos of the action on Flickr by searching by date for July 25th and ordering by Interestingness:
Also checkout the katkam webam archives for the day of July 25:

Music a Test of Intelligence?
While very unscientific, and probably extremely culturally biased, this is still pretty funny:

Interesting Article on What Bands Use Click Tracks
http://musicmachinery.com/2009/03/02/in-search-of-the-click-track/
Some bands that don’t:
Metallica
Weezer
and some that do:
Nickelback
Green Day
Britney Spears
Would be curious to see what the analysis is on Pearl Jam. Especially analyzing some of their bootlegs.

Explaining our Current Political State to Americans
Kyle passed this link on to me. Article written by Neil Macdonald (Norm’s Brother). Great read:

Harpers Clings to Power as GG Falls in Line
Gov. Gen. Michaëlle Jean has granted a request from Stephen Harper to suspend Parliament until late next month:
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/12/04/harper-jean.html
Which basically means our country will continue to do nothing for the next two months, as one of the worst economic crisis’s is hitting Canada. Nothing like being caught in a giant storm, floating aimlessly as the captain locks himself in his chambers due to a mutiny. Time to go watch the Perfect Storm again…
One more from Garth, because everyone needs a little anti-conservatism in the morning:

Rick Mercer on the Current State of our Government

Serious Talk of Coalition Between NDP and Liberals
The big issue being who would be leader in a coalition:
http://www.thestar.com/article/545220
Also to note is that even with a coalition they would not have enough seats for a majority. I guess they are banking on winning the seats that they split votes on. Also as a follow up to this, the mini budget really looks as if the Conservatives want the opposition to overthrow the government. There is nothing about the economy, and full on attacks at the other political parties (removal of funding), and the working class (removal of right to strike by public sector). Will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Convservatives Look to Destroy Opposition Rather than Deal with Economy
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/11/26/update-subsidy.html
While on paper the Conservatives would lose the most amount of funding, that funding also represents the smallest percentage of their overall funding as a party, compared to the Liberals in which it is a majority of their funds.
Garth Turners take on things:

Now more than ever do we need the Canadian left to unit and throw out the conservatives before it is too late.
