I know what you mean. My colleague and I drove home from work last night listening to CBC Radio suffering through Jim Abbott. Keith Martin came on after him and seemed a lot more reasonable. Unfortunately, people always seem to look for who has the best rhetoric rather than who actually has the best ideas. These next two months are going to be insufferable, watching a failing government rile up the populace with false threats and hypocritical accusations while nothing gets done about any of the issues that matter to Canadians.

As much as you know how badly I want this coalition in yesterday, a title like implies the GG had any choice. As a largely ceremonial position, her only option, based upon precendent, is to do whatever whoever happens to be the PM tells her until said PM’s government collapses. Jean was handcuffed by the position; if it had anything to do with her personal politics based on her pre-GG career, you can bet she would have turned him. Harper is to blame here, not Jean. I know we’re all pissed off at the Conservatives for leaving us in a black hole of no leadership and inaction, but to make a blanket statement like ‘GG Shows She Has No Balls” is a bit much (not to mention that a statement could be construed as incredibly sexist). Agree 100% with the Garth post; what’s less democratic than abandoning Parliament to sit on your hands while the country threatens to impolde simply because you’re hungry for power?
