First Roller Hockey Game

Today I played in my first roller hockey game. I am playing in a league out in Langley with a bunch of guys from North Van, one of which I went on the Pearl Jam tour with (Jason). Tonight was the first time I have ever played in a structured hockey game before with refs, rules etc but felt like I did pretty good. At times I felt a bit lost but overall did ok. Stamina wise I held out pretty good, got a bit tired in the last 5 minutes, but overall ok. I think it is because I am used to playing full games without any subs. Probably the hardest thing I had to get used to was using a puck. A ball you can push and it rolls, however a puck just sticks, you actually have to handle the puck. It was a bit awkward but I slowly got used to it. I think after a few games I will adjust a lot better.

We lost the game tonight 8-1, which is apparently the best result we have had all year (we are still in preseason, most games have been 12-1). I actually got an assist on the lone goal that was scored. I think we are going to be bumped down to a lower division, which I think will allow us to compete a little better. It was pretty retarded out there, a couple of the other teams players would skate circles around us.

Overall a really fun first game though, I am really glad I joined this league, will give me a little exercise over the winter during the raining months. If we can get more Burton hockey going on the side I think this could be a really excellent winter!
