Brilliant Idea
The other day during a staff meeting while discussing some new technologies someone had an idea of ways we could be using the technology. At the time the person said it I don’t think they realized how brilliant the idea actually was and we continued on with the meeting status quo. After having fully grasped the brilliance of what this person had said I was completely lost in this idea for the rest of the meeting. I even wrote the idea down in my notebook and outlined it about 5 times. After the meeting I went up to the person and told them that their idea was truly brilliant and could ultimately be the future of the company. This person asked what idea I was talking about, so I showed her the page in my notebook with the idea nicely outlined. After reading it they still didn’t quite grasp the brilliance of it so I told them to read it again. After the second time I kind of spelled it out exactly how the idea could be applied and how amazing it was. After reading the idea a second time and hearing me out it truly sunk in and they too were shocked at what we could be doing with this idea. The both of us were truly excited at the possibilities.
Now two days later I am still very excited about this idea. It is amazing what a single idea can do, how much it can change things, how many problems it can solve. What is also interesting is that this idea is such a simple idea. Granted most great ideas are the simplest ones. I wonder how many brilliant ideas in life get passed by because they are never realized?
